Again in September 2009 a small
delegation from PBS went to Mumbai for coordinating with our outsourcing
partner L&T Infotech. The professionally part of the visit wasn't as
positive as one might want, but then it was the bigger pleasure to visit
Rajeev and Lalita Chawla and their daughter Neha.
I arrived to their home on Friday the
18th of September where Rajeev received me. We went for a beautiful walk
along the Wolie Seaface enjoying the picturesque sunset. Saturday Lalita
took me to Nariman Point where she used to play as a small girl, and
afterwards we went shopping. Lalita showed me some very good souvenir shops
where you don't need to bargain and with reasonable price levels: Central
Cottage Industries Corporation of India (close to Gateway of India) and
Amber Arts, crafts & Jewels Emporium (Just across the street from Leopolds).
We meet with Rajeev at Leopold where we
had lunch and 'a tube of beer'. Strangely enough there are still bullet
holes in the walls from the terror attack on the 26th of November 2008.
After the lunch Rajeev showed me the Red
light district of Mumbai, which was a depressing experience.
I would like to thank Rajeev, Lalita and
Neha for opening their home to me, and for taking so good care of me that I
almost feel as a part of their family
